Has anyone with curly hair......?

ever had it relaxed? I am thinking of getting my very curly hair relaxed, not so that it is poker straight but so that the curl is looser and more manageable but I am concerned that the condition will suffer. I would only like to hear from peeps that have actually had this done or that know someone who has!! Cheers.

Your hair will receive some damage just like any other chemical service. I recommend finding someone who specializes in this process because if not performed correctly it will fry your hair. A perm will not relax naturally curly hair. If you have hilights on your hair I recommend not having the straightener done or it will severely damage the hair.

I had it done, but unfortunately it did not turn out well. My hair is quite fine despite being naturally very curly. When I had it relaxed the second I went outside into the damp air it just curled even tighter and I had just wasted a lot of money.

I do know that I am an exception to the rule, but whatever you do to your hair you have to make sure you have the right conditioner for your hair. Too heavy and it will make your looser curls drag.

Good luck.

be careful when perming your hair as it can make your hair damaged, if you are going to get it permed,i advised you to get your hair texturised, to texturise it is less strong than a perm and will give you curls and easy to straighten to,but any time you perm or texturise your hair every few week you have to get your roots re-done which maybe hard to keep up after a while (i have experienced this).

hope this helps

I just straighten it... it's a pain, but its worth it when people compliment it!

ok i have another idea because chemical perms will damage your hair badly!!! SO go to a local hair store and ask for dr.miracle's curl remover. i used it on my hair and it actually works and if you want your curls back its a package in the box and you apply like you would a shampoo. Well that's all also have fun with your straight hair i know i did!!!

Has anyone with curly hair......?

Please don't do it,i used to do it for one's who were realy wanting it and i used to tell them the hair dye's and suffer;s with dry and split end's,

don't do it.find some other way in doing it then this, down the line you will even loose load's of hair.

Relaxing isnt the way to go, you might prefer texturising which is lighter then relaxing

IMO i wouldnt do either, once you start you pretty have to continue or wait for ages for your hair to grow out. You will definately miss your curls once they are gone!

Relaxed hair can be kept in good condition by regular treatments

I have relaxed hair, natural hair is curly. When my hair gets wet it is still curly..its easier to straighten but if i want to have it cury it doesnt look as good as it used to. Mine is in good condition because i condition it %26amp; tend not use colour.

If you do decide to go ahead with it, dont comb your hair roughly or scratch your scalp for at least a day before you have it done %26amp; dont get your hair done if you are on or coming on soon as it will STING!!!!

Hope this helps, good luck

I have relatively curly (European) hair and have had it relaxed regularly during the last three years or so (at Toni and Guy) 閳?perhaps twice a year. I know lots of people tell us curly-haired girls not to do it, but I say go for it if you feel like it. As I would otherwise have to use straightening irons every day to get the look I want, the relative damage may not actually be that bad in comparison. I've even done it myself, using Boots own straightening perm, and it worked out great, it's just really time-consuming and it's good to have someone help you! Of course, having your hair cut regularly, and using protective spray when blow-drying and using straightening irons is important if you want to have glossy, fabulous locks! Good luck, whatever you decide to do!

I was a thermal hair straightening model a couple of years ago. My hair was unmanagably frizzy tight curls and the procedure made it perfectly straight. When my roots grew in I first just straightened it but eventually let it grow out. Now that my hair is all natural again it's so much better than before. It's long ringlet curls with looser ones on top and tighter ones at the bottom.

I get compliments on my hair almost everyday. In that respect I'd say a relaxer type thing would be good to experience a change. It puts you in a new perspective and a break for awhile (didn't ruin my hair either) but it also made me love the way my hair is naturally and made them easier almost easy to manage and deal with.
