i have curly hair and i like it but i look way too childish and i really want to mature myself and im starting with my hair. please help!!!!

I have natural curly hair as well and I know I get compliments when, I straighten it out. The only problem is that it takes me 1 1/2 hr to do all of my hair. If you use a little bit of baby oil this helps to smooth will you do. You will have to turn the straightner settings to high temp. I know when I have bangs. I just use the hair dryer %26amp; around brush to bring them straight down.

i think side bangs would look cute but you'd have to make sure they match your hair. don't straighten your bangs but leave the rest of your hair curly. i hate when people do that. i'm willing to bet you're a total hottie and anything would look super-smokin' on you.

there is something called SUPER SKINNY by paul mitchell, it's the best, a little expensive but works. I have long curly thick hair and i have the same thing happen to me, also buy a flatiron, not the cheap ones, but maybe a ceramic one, they run about 50-200 dollars depending on how good of a one you want. And when straightening your hair, dont put hairspray or moose in, that will make it worse! Keep that for when you want your hair curly.

Okay.. that happens to my cousin. What i make her do is buy this Pantene moose or gel that you use after you straighten your hair. You simply take a few pieces of your hair with your hand, (remember to start from the top of your hair and slide downwards) and press on it, for the effect. This way there will be no frizz or wavy-ness. Hope i helped.. sorry about the straighting thing before!!

make a style out of your curls gal. put on a hair bow or band to keep the front neat and let the curls fall around you. you may use hairpins. or you can cut it short or something. just be creative. see my avatar? ive curls too(really tough to manage). but i like them. besides, the method you use to straighten your hair may not be soothing for it and its gonna get thinner. plus what'll you do if your new style doesn't suit you or if you find that your hair is too thin after straightening it?

I have that same type of hair.. my trick to keeping it straight is to purchase a perm solution from the store, put just the activator and neutralizer in my hair (according to the box details) and while the activator is in my hair I comb it straight for the duration of time indicated. After this is rinsed out I add the neutralizer as per instruction and continue combing in straight. In the end you may still need to use the straightener to just take out some minor curls but it will hold much better without so much product. I do use a leave in conditioner after washing my hair (Infusium works great), and rather than putting in the product for frizz before you straighten it with the straightener, put a high sheen product through your hair after the straightening so that it smooths out any last minute frizz and holds it down throughout the day.. good luck.. it can be so frustrating having this type of hair.. trust me I know.. ;o)

Try heat seal by Paul Mitchell- it helps fight humidity and keeps it under control. Steps to straight: 1- shampoo/condition. 2-apply a gel for control (mousse is for body) then heat seal. 3- blow dry straight (warm first then cool). 4- flat iron in sections- the thicker your hair the smaller your sections should be. Mist sections with a working hair spray before ironing for extra hold. Make sure the section cools completely befor you touch it! 5-Finally spray with hair spray and you are done. Get it done by a pro if you still have trouble and watch how they do it for you and then practice it. Good products and tools make it easier.

If you have the money to invest in good quality salon products, I would suggest the following: Use Kenra Platinum Hot Spray #20, it is an awesome straightening product. Use it to blow dry your hair fowwlowed by using your CHI. Then, use Victoria Secret So Sexy Shine serum between CHI straightening, it will make your hell smell amazing and it will take away your frizz.

Um avoid purchasing ANY shampoos like Paul Mitchell Super Skinny or any other shampoos that contain (the key ingredient that makes your hair FRIZZY):

SODIUM.

Take the shampoo bottles and look at the ingredients. If there are any sodium ingredients listed, this means that the salt-based cleansing properities in the shampoo are stripping your hair from proteins, oils that make it shiny, smooth, and silky (not-frizzy). Therefore, they require you to purchase a conditioner to go with it to fix the damage these sodium shampoos are doing.

Here's my recommendation for super smooth and straight hair. And i've tried EVERYTHING. I have a curly beast-like mane attached to my head too.

Aveda Smooth Infusion Shampoo.

Aveda does not use ANY sodium ingredients and is completely hydrating for your hair. Combine this with Aveda Hang Straight Lotion before you straighten with an iron or blow dry.

Just remember, the ingredients of shampoos are SOOO important!! make sure the product you are putting in your hair is not going to be drying!!

I am 14 years old and I have curly hair, about 2-3 inches past my shoulders, and its VERY THICK, and that causes it to go frizzy and poofy, and the curls definitly don't help..I've tried straighteners [ flat irons ] ..but nothing expensive and it didn't help..I'm thinking of buying a good salon flat iron but I'm not sure what else could help it?..any tips? should i get it chemically straightened? or what ? PLEASE HELP. I always have to wear my hair up in a bun because its so thick and poofy and I can't even wear it in a pony tail with out getting embarassed!

Ok well my hair used to be like that. First of all, my hair stylist told me that your hair changes every 7 years, so take a deep breath. From the time I was born until I was like 7, my hair was so straight and silky, and a little thin. Then after that, my hair became thick, curly, poofy, etc. I used to just wear it out, because honestly, as a kid you don't care what you look like. But then, when I got into the 6th grade, and all of my other friends had boyfriends, I started to notice a problem. I had a crush on my best friends brother, and he told me I was pretty, but my hair was not attractive. So one day, my friend put my hair in a bun, and I wore it like that almost everyday until I was 14. Then, I started to buy special lotions to put into my hair, and then straightened it. It was still thick, but it was straight. It took a few hours each time though, especially since my hair was so long. Then at 14, I figured out a few secrets, first, shampoo your hair every day, but only condition every other day. Second, when you condition, leave the conditioner in for about 5 minutes to get your hair really really soft. Then, after you get out of the shower, towel dry your hair slightly. Next, brush your damp hair with only a paddle brush. They work well, and do not snag or break hair. Then, apply an anti-frizz serum thoroughly though your hair. And lastly, when you wake up, flip your hair over, and run finishing cream through your hair.

Holy crap I am having the same issue.. if you look at my questions I have asked I ask about it all the tie but nobody seems to have a good answer... DONT get it permantly straightened. I thought about ti but it costs a hell of a lot of money and I know a bunch of people and it didn't help at all it made it worse. I heard aussie beach wave products work. calm down if i knew any better this was me when i was 14 loland am 26 now i did the same thing use a bun an what not that is so bad for your hair it got to the point my hair knew how to get there lol buy silk sheets and silk pillow cases trust me that works wonders it helps the frizz due to the other snag your hair silk sheets let your hair glide also get a micro fiber towel to dry your hair but don't fuss with it just blot your hair a little dry look for a good leave in conditioner if you go to Sally's they have tons of great products trust me a little goes a long way you don't need a pound of leave in a quarter size on your palm will go a long way also look for a gel that controls frizz or a mouse same thing a quarter size or two and work it up from your ends do not start at the scalp crunch it up word to work in then get a good super hold hair spray i use big sexy hair its in a red bottle its 26.00 but it lasts me a month at least and last but not least throw away all the brushes and buy a wide tooth comb brushes brake hair and makes it more frizzy vs a wide tooth comb or just use your fingers to untangle your hair oh and also once or twice a month get a cup of white vinager and 1 cup of water and wash your hair with that it will take out all the build up of hair product you have on it leaving your hair clean and buildup free and with in a month or two you should see some results also take the bun off even when you let your hair down it bunches where you normaly have the bun start useing a barade in your hair when you want it tied back also thow out all the blow dryers they heat hair and make it brittle also dont dye your hair often

Well I am 25 years and I have been using baby oil in my hair. I know i know, baby oil ruins your hair, BUT I had the same problem that you had. I know use baby oil with FRUITIER strightner serum in the small pump after I get out the shower and it tames my hair. I really hope this helps, especially if you want it straight all you have to do is use the baby oil, the serum, blow dry straight, and then straighten with the hair straightner. k so im 14 too and i have "big" curly hair too and i used to think that it was the worst thing and i couldnt do anything with it and i used to always wear it up but now ive come to love my curls, see every morning after my shower while my hair is still wet but not dripping i put about 3-4 squirts of gel in it evenly but not the strong hold but relaxed stuff anyway it works like a charm also never brush your hair for too long and never after il starts to dry itll frizz, good luck all this stufff worked for me.

As far as your frizz goes you can say good bye to it. There is a product by "I. S. O." called "Bouncy Cream". Not sold in stores only available in salons.

Call the salons in your area and find you who carries "I. S. O.".

It does work.

WOW! talk about my hair twin! yeah isnt it soo anoying you cant wear your hair in a ponytail! err, but anyways heres what i did to fix my problem: I saved up and got a Sedu flat iron which works AMAZING! better than a CHI any day becuz the original CHI only has ceramic plates and the original sedu has tourlemine/ceramic for best smoothness. i bought mine of folica for about $125 (but sooo worth it) so heres the rest of my routine:

1. in shower wash with Neutrogena triple moisture shampoo, condition with BioSilk Silk Therapy (designed to work with heat)

2. get out of shower, blot with towel, apply Matrix sleek.look extreme styling cream and Biolage leave in conditioner.

3. take blowdryer on cool setting pointing nozzel down and just run through hair to remove excess moisture. (blowing straight=too much work!)

3. wait till air dries the rest of the way, spray a little bit of Nexxus Heat Protexx all over hair, and flat iron that hair!

4. after smooth,sleek, and straight take some Redken glass 01 and warm in palms and apply to hair. (smoothes frizz and adds shine)

5. Done%26amp;GORGEOUS!!

i also make sure to deep condition once a week with neutrogena triple moisutre replenishing mask or if thats too heavy for you, try something like Dove Therapy deep conditioner!

Have you ever tried a regular iron, like for clothes? I know it sounds silly %26amp; I wouldn't recomend doing it on yourself, but they get hotter that flat irons %26amp; I swear they work REALLY well.

You could maybe just embrace your curls. Maybe buy styling products made to make curly hair look pretty.

I think there are several things you can do. The foundation of hair styling begins with shampoo and conditioners....

My favorite, I have seen it at Rite Aid, Walmart and salons is the Joico Kpak line. Shampoo, conditioner and reconstructors once a week....

I would follow up with the Joico leave in conditioner and style with Joico smoothing balm. Its a straightening cream that is heat activated and protects your hair. You will find your hair much more managable....

For thick hair, there is a KMS product "Flat Out", its a glossy product. Not only does it keep the hair controled, it helps to close the cuticle that prevents te frizz....Citre shine liquid is also a good one.

I would use the gloss after you finish styling, it controls and you get an awesome shine....

well what you need is a leave and conditioner or try a mousse and then hot iron or what ever you are doing but one thing NEVER USE A CURLER OR A CRIMPER IT WIL ONLY MAKE YOUR HAIR LOOK A MILLION TIMES BAD not that your hair is bad but if you use the wrong things in it. it will only make it more frizzy and curly

If you do a half up half down style i think it would be very pretty.

To do that, It's almost like making a pony tail except you only put up the top half (or less). That way you end up with your hair out of your face, but it's still down.

I have the exact same problem but opposite so I understand what youre going through. If its not naturally even, you need to make it even. I use a product called making waves. Its amazing. You can buy it at any salon. Put that in your hair and scrunch it at the bottom only, where there arent as many curls, and try to smooth out the top a little bit. Then blow dry it with a diffuser, with your head upside down, trying to focus mainly on the bottom. That should work great for you. Good luck!

First of all DO NOT CUT YOUR HAIR!! The best thing to do it pick it up for now but let it grow. Trust me I know what Im talking about I have really thick curly hair and I had the same problem as you but I let it grow and now my hair is pretty and long. Hope this works for you. Good Luck!!!

make sure your hair is straight when you get your hair cut. Then when it's curly it'll be fine, and when you staighten it wont be all uneven. I have really curly hair too, and in my experience, some stylists just don't deal well with SUPER curls.

Try regular hair rollers and hair setting gel or mousse. You can choose the size of rollers you want for very curly hair or just wavy.

towel dry ur hair a bit, and get curling moose, and flip ur head up side down, and scrunch ur hair and then take a dafuser and put it on ur blow dryer and while ur upside down press ur hair with the blow dryer up against ur head every square inch of ur head and and keep doin it till its almost dry...not completly dry...but still a bit wet and then spray it with hair spray and then ur done!!

i dont know if you want it permenent or jsut for a day but i know that you can get a "perm" and that should last you a long time.. like year or so... i have gotten many and i was very pleased with them.. and the good thing is is that if you decide to go streight than streighten it... if not, well it will grow out and you streight hair will grow back.

A good way to curl your hair if its straight, is to get a hair scrunching gel, i have straight hair and i use it all the time. Its very easy to use, all you do is apply it to dry or damp hair and scrunch your hair, play with it, it really works.A good brand to use is Catwalk.Good Luck!

You could try using rollers in your hair. You just roll them in your hair after you wash it and either leave them in over night or blow dry them. There are different sizes depending on the curls you want. You could also try braiding or french-braiding your hair when it's wet. I have also heard of a way where you split your hair into small sections and twist your hair around your finger or something like that, and then put a hair pin in it. You could also blow dry your hair then or leave it over night, and I hear that way works really well.

wash your hair, lightly towel dry and comb through some wella ammani setting lotion through your hair then set your entire head if hair with salon type plastic rollers and pics and let your hair either air dry or use a bonnet dryer on a low to medium setting

when hair is dry remove rollers and place your curls into place using your fingers

depending on hairs length try to use rollers between 22mm and 40mm Diameter depending on how tight you want your curls to be.

I have the lady that cuts my hair cut it in a way that lets me style it differently by just brushing it out when it's wet. Besides that, I really can't think of much else that you can do...You could try just putting your hair up, or you can try parting it in a different way. Like if you part it in the center, try parting it to the side.

Towel dry your hair by scrunching it, then grab your hair in sections and twist and loop into a circle and pin down, *make sure your hair is not soaking wet, damp is best* Then blow dry. When you unwind your hair should be wavy. Not curly, you really can't get that look unless you already have curls in your hair or if you have the proper tools.

How to dry curly hair?

I air dry mine because curly hair tends to be more fragile than straight. It is drier and it tangles easier. If you feel like you need to blow dry it , make sure you use a diffuser and a low setting. Use a good hydrating shampoo and conditioner (i use biolage ultra hydrating) and a thermal styling product. Whatever you do, don't use a brush on it unless you want it really bushy. Just kind of scrunch it with your fingers to help form the curls.

HI! I have had curly, frizzy, poofy, hair all my life and for most of my life i wore it up in a pony tail. Well recently I have discovered a new hair method to help!

1.) Get your hair cut shoulder length if it is long.Professionally.

2.) Now to help with the thickness get your hair razer thinned or just thinned. This will take away some of the volume.

3.) Buy Alberto V05 Curvacous Curls!

4.) Wash all the product out of your hair. Hair spray, moose, conditioner etc.)

5.) Add a little bit of the Alberto V05 Curvacous Curls! to your hair.

6.)Get a diffuser attachment for your blow drier.

7.) Use drier to dry your hair so that it's damp.

Try using a leave in conditioner or condition your hair every time you shampoo. Pantene has a line for curly hair. Try also Frizz Ease products for frizzy hair. Have you ever had your hair thinned out? That may also be an alternative for you. I would try the products for frizzy hair and conditioners. Good Luck!!!

use a good deep conditioner, and condition every day.

You can blow dry with a round brush or try one of those straightening irons.

My hairdresser used a really good brush on my hair: it was round with both natural bristles and plastic ones. She said it makes all the difference in whether hair is smooth or not.

also, I like Sunsilk in the pink bottle for flyaways. I use it when I want my hair straighter.

As soon as you get out of the shower put like a quarter size blob of gel on your hands and rub it thru your hair and then put your hair loosely in a messy bun in the top of your head till your hair is about half way dry, then take it down and scrunch it ocassionaly till its dry! Use moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, plus a leave in conditioner. Good examples are: Pantene, Garnier, Aussie, Sunsilk, Loreal. You could also try using a curl activating shampoo, Loreal makes a great one. I tend to mix and match brands, for a really good leave in conditioner try Netrogena, it comes in a light orange bottle. They also make a hair serum that is good for frizz. If you don't like the texture gel makes your hair try moose instead, or try this heat defense spray by Loreal for curly hair it comes it a hot pink bottle. Once it completely dries it leaves you hair soft but still holds the curl. Also if you dry your hair with a blow dryer be sure to use a diffuser.
